A true athlete and all around great companion. The Portuguese Water Dog is an adventurous and curious breed. The Portie possesses a curly and low sheding coat that is sometimes sheered into a "lion cut" which is clipped down to the skin at the muzzle, behind the ribcage, down the back legs, and halfway down the tail, making for a truly unique look. They love to be in the water and playing for long hours. Their intellegence and willing to please demeaner makes them a highly trainable dog for just about anything! We especially love the Portie for first time dog owners or active families. They are friendly to strangers, but do require socialization and active outings early on in order to develop their confidence and sense of adventure.
