Meet The Breeder

Hi, I’m Mikayla, the person behind Fianna Collies in central North Carolina. I grew up surrounded by a menagerie of animals, but dogs always held a special place in my heart. As a young child, I woke up on Saturday mornings just to watch the AKC Eukanuba National Championship on Animal Planet. My aunt bred field-line Labrador Retrievers, and I helped her with every litter—those early experiences sparked my lifelong passion for dogs. My fascination with Collies began even earlier—long before I owned one. I adored the collie from 101 Dalmatians and another gorgeous Collie belonged to a family friend. In 2020, I finally welcomed my first Collie, Fionn, and jumped into AKC performance sports. Fionn and I competed in obedience, FastCAT, and barn hunt, and we even dabbled in agility and herding—that’s how much fun we had together! In 2022, I brought home Rory, a stunning blue merle girl and my first conformation dog. She’s been part of my journey into grooming and performance, and I adore her dearly—she’s truly my heart walking around outside my chest. Fianna Collies is a small, preservation-focused breeder of both rough and smooth Collies. I am dedicated to breeding dogs with exceptional temperament, health, structure, and versatility, so they shine in the show ring, perform in sports, and thrive as loving family companions. The name Fianna honors my first Collie, Fionn. The Gaelic name means “fair” and also refers to a legendary band of warriors called the Fianna—symbolizing strength, loyalty, and purpose, which inspire my breeding program. I'm proud to be a Better Breeder Institute–certified Collie breeder, affirming my commitment to ethical breeding, transparency, and the long‑term health of the breed. When you choose a puppy from me, you’re not just getting a dog—you’re joining a legacy filled with intention, integrity, and heart. I’d love to share more about upcoming litters, individual dogs, or my breeding philosophy.
