Meet The Breeder

To say the Australian Shepherd has always been a part of our lives would be an understatement. I truly can’t remember a time when we didn’t have an Aussie in our home. My parents’ love for the breed began when my father managed ranches in East Texas, where Australian Shepherds were essential to daily work. Growing up with this remarkable breed—and being part of an avid horse show family—it felt only natural that I’d eventually hang up the bridal and step into the show ring with dogs myself. Well, the rest is history, I was hooked. I never imagined how that small shift would lead my family and me on the journey we're on today—but we wouldn’t have it any other way. My first junior showmanship dog came from Donna Bates at Slydrock Aussies. Kola was everything I could’ve hoped for—an incredible partner who taught me so much, helped us earn memorable wins, and gave me a foundation to grow from. Long road trips to shows with my mom, deep family conversations, and the mentorship of other thoughtful ethical breeders all shaped my commitment to preserving this breed responsibly. At Emerald Isle, we take that responsibility seriously. We believe the Australian Shepherd should be as versatile in purpose as it is stunning in appearance. Every breeding decision we make is grounded in health, structure, temperament, and breed type—always aiming to produce sound, purpose-bred dogs who thrive in the show ring, in performance venues, or as exceptional family companions. Each puppy we bring into the world represents a lifelong commitment—not just to the homes they go to, but to us as their breeders. From in-depth pedigree research and full health testing to collaboration with other ethical breeders, we do everything we can to ensure our dogs are set up to succeed. Just as important is placing our puppies in homes where they’ll be cherished, challenged, and cared for throughout their lives. – Adrianne
