Hi from Tennessee! I've had Kooikerhondjes since 2001 and was part of their process towards gaining AKC full recognition. I've made multiple Kooiker trips to Europe, served on the Health & Genetics and Rescue Committees of the KCUSA, and am a member of the VHNK (the Dutch parent club). My interests are in conserving proper health, temperament and genetic diversity of this breed that has been my passion for more than 2/3 of my life. I dabble in conformation but prefer competing in performance events (Flyball, agility, rally obedience, scentwork, etc.), and my dogs have also trained and worked in bloodtracking, medical alerting, therapy dog work, and worked in the field as flushing spaniels. I have a degree in Animal Biology and concentrated in Reproductive and Conservation biology, and my approach to this breed is similar to the approach we take when managing captive populations of endangered species: my goal is to ensure future generations will still be able to have stable, healthy Kooikers. I don't believe in "cutting corners" about health testing, inbreeding, or breeding underage parents. While I've only recently begun breeding and do not currently have specific litter plans, I am building a waitlist for a possible 2026 litter, and for the 2027-2028 timeframe.
