Danube Poodles is a small, home-based Miniature Poodle preservation breeding program in Tennessee built on the principles of preservation, conservation, and regeneration. We preserve breed type and purpose, conserve valuable genetics, and strive to regenerate long-term health, resilience, and biological integrity for future generations. We believe preservation alone is no longer enough. By integrating preservation, conservation, and regeneration, our goal is not simply to maintain the Miniature Poodle as it exists today, but to strengthen the breed’s long-term health, resilience, and biological integrity while honoring its history. Founded by Timea R. Bodi, an AKC Breeder of Merit, veterinary technician, and certified canine and feline nutritionist, Danube Poodles combines generations of European preservation breeding with an evidence-informed approach to natural rearing. Raised in a family deeply involved in breeding and exhibiting Poodles, Timea continues to collaborate internationally with her parents to preserve valuable bloodlines while maintaining genetic diversity across generations. Through her published writing, educational outreach, and mentorship, Timea advocates for evidence-informed preservation breeding and thoughtful dialogue within the purebred dog community. Dedicated exclusively to black and red Miniature Poodles, every breeding decision is guided by temperament, structure, health, longevity, and functional soundness. All breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing, and puppies are raised in the home using enriched early neurological and developmental protocols, species-appropriate nutrition, environmental management, and individualized socialization designed to support healthy physical, behavioral, and emotional development throughout life. Danube Poodles is committed to producing intelligent, athletic, emotionally stable companions capable of excelling as beloved family members while preserving the elegance, versatility, and purpose that have defined the Miniature Poodle for generations. The goal is not simply to produce puppies, but to leave each generation stronger, healthier, and better prepared for the future than the one before. Mentorship has played an important role in shaping the program. Timea had the privilege of working alongside the late Kazuhiko “Kaz” Hosaka, one of the most respected figures in the history of the Poodle. His emphasis on observation, breed type, structure, presentation, and the art of evaluating dogs beyond pedigrees and titles continues to influence her breeding philosophy today. Our commitment extends well beyond the day a puppy leaves our home. Danube Poodles remains dedicated to every dog we produce through lifelong breeder support, education, and a willingness to accept responsibility for each puppy throughout its lifetime. At Danube Poodles, breeding is viewed as long-term stewardship rather than production. Every litter represents a responsibility to the generations that came before us and those yet to come. Preservation honors the past. Conservation protects the present. Regeneration builds the future. Those principles guide every decision we make as we work to ensure the Miniature Poodle remains healthy, functional, and true to its heritage for generations to come.
