This lil gem is confident, loyal, and always entertaining! The West Highland White Terrier is a true charmer. They are always happy and extremely smart. The sturdy built Westie is a true terrier at heart and a worker at its core. Their height is between 10 to 11 inches at the withers with dark striking eyes, a compact body, and a wagging tail. They have endless courage and strength to accomplish anything they set their minds to. As a rat and rodent hunter, the Westie has a high drive to capture small creatures and will always persue the chase! Their seemingly fluffy and stark white coat is not easy or soft! They possess a thick, hard, and wirey coat that is a bit rough to snuggle on. This active and highly alert breed is independant and self motivated. We esspecially love the Westie for people who know and understand terrier traits and have the ability to be patient and spend time to train. They would prefer being left to their own accord, and since they are extremely smart, training can be a bit of a challenge. Once a pattern is established they can can be taught just about anything! Since the Westie doesnt like to be pampered, a good session of throwing a cat toy or allowing the formittable chase will appease them for attention and exercize. The Westie requires some regular grooming to keep their coat white and mat free.
