This giant, sweet beast of a dog is one of the most powerful and dignified breeds in the dog kingdom. The Newfoundland is extremely loyal and devoted to their people. Their sweet-temper makes for an excellent companion for families with new or young children. They are careful, thoughtful, and patient. A male Newfie can weigh up to 150 pounds and are 28 inches tall at the withers; females naturally are smaller. The Newfs' large head is majestic. Their soft and endearing expression will melt anyone's heart. The thick coat is flat and coarse and does require regular grooming and bathing. Colors are gray, brown, black, and a black-and-white. The Newfie must posses a sweet characteristic first and foremost, which makes us love them for families with young children, but a Newf must also have an adult who can handle a very large and strong dog on a leash. They are easily trained and quick learners. A Newfie is surely one of our favorite gentle giants.
